You think your users will use what you just built? Hold on a sec.. it might not be as easy as you think. To design the best product customers like, these are the four major steps you need to work on.

1. RESEARCH

“What you think does not really mean what users would think.”

Fully understanding about your audience and the”battlefield” that you are entering is crucial for the success of your project, Yes yes, it is definitely a war zone out there. Knowing your target audience and your competitors can help you get into the mindset of your users.

2. ANALYZE

“Data does not mean information”

After you have absorbed all the information from the market, now you have to dig out what is useful for you and the product/ services that you are building. Persona analysis and customer journey mapping are great ways to understand about the thinking and action process of your audience.

3. DESIGN

“Design is not just about lines, colors and buttons”

You can now finally start sketching out the buttons and icons based on the list of requirements that you have came up with. Your wireframe can then turn into a functional prototype within a few hours. Really. Building this prototype allows you to see and feel what your end product would look like, before actually spending a long time developing the actual UI layout pages. You can then proceed to UI design.

4. TESTING

“You are only halfway done after you have built your product/ services”

So, finally you have arrived at this stage and you are happy that your “baby” is born after all the overnights and sunrises. Are you done? Not yet. Testing is essentially the most important stage. You are actually going to see if your many months of hardwork is actually what users want, need or desire.

Now you think you are done? Still not yet. Only through continuous iterations of the above 4 stages can keep you at the frontier of your market.

We are ready to be your UX/ UI digital partner for your business. No matter what your needs are, feel free to drop us a line.

How to Go Viral on Social Media? https://newdigitalnoise.com/how-to-go-viral-on-social-media/ https://newdigitalnoise.com/how-to-go-viral-on-social-media/#respond Tue, 26 Jul 2016 04:04:56 +0000 https://newdigitalnoise.ndnsocial.com.hk/?p=1620 The post How to Go Viral on Social Media? appeared first on New Digital Noise.

Going viral (for the right reasons) is the dream for many businesses who use social media marketing. The idea of your content reaching thousands or even millions of people for free or for very little investment is so exciting. You might have heard of lots of viral marketing cases, but there is no exact strategy to go viral. Some posts will and others won’t but if you do want to aim for your content to go viral or at least be shared more often, here are some tips to keep in mind.

1. Be visual and embed sharing

Perhaps the most important and most forgotten part of a viral campaign is being visual and inviting shares. Studies have shown that content with images are more likely to be shared than content without images. Add options for social media sharing and be sure to have your image as the “featured image” so the social media site will show it along with the content.

2. Make it emotional

Humans are emotional beings. We are influenced into action by emotions and numerous scientific studies support that claim. If you want someone to share your post, tap into their emotions. One of the most well known campaigns to go viral that used emotional connection is the Dove’s Real Beauty Sketches campaign. The campaign is built to evoke emotions, specifically joy and surprise, and a bit of an awe when you feel the full weight of the campaign

Emotions can be both negative or positive and the best way to decide which content would activate which emotion is to think about your ideal audience and what you know about them and then create content based on that. Here is a list of top emotions that your content can trigger:

 • awe
 • anger
 • anxiety
 • fear
 • joy
 • surprise
 • disgust

3. Make it relevant

Tapping into news that is already being discussed is an excellent way to help you go viral. Experienced digital marketing consultants will also use a social media monitoring tool to track what’s trending and pay attention to large cultural events, world news or pop culture.

During the 2013 Superbowl, the lights at the Superdome went out for 30 minutes and Oreo, jumped on the opportunity creating an image and tweet that related to the event. The tweet went viral right away and has been retweeted over 15,000 times. It’s an excellent example of how brand can use current events to create viral content.

A digitally-marketed Oreo cookie highlights "power out no problem" in Hong Kong.

When creating content around current events, be careful not to offend or have your tweet taken out of context. This can cause more harm them good and could create a social media faux pas.

4. Make it divisive or controversial

Another great way to make your content go viral is to make it a bit controversial or divisive. Humans love to argue and they love to be right. You can create shock and friendly banter when you post something that makes people think. The best example of this is known as “The Dress.” The internet world caught fire when a user posted a photo of a dress, asking for the Internet to help settle a debate between her and her friends as they couldn’t decide on what color this dress was. The Internet could not decide either. Some individuals saw white and gold while others saw black and blue. The post prompted discussions all over the internet, that escalated into reports by large media publications like The Washington Post.

The lesson is that if it’s done right, you can create content that makes people think, choose sides and argue. But this tactic should be used with caution as not to cause a social media misstep, otherwise it might become a social media crisis.

Remember, going viral isn’t guaranteed but following these tips will increase the chance of your content being shared among your audience. View more outstanding social media marketing cases or contact us for more information!

4 Questions Your Boss is Going to Ask You About Digital Marketing https://newdigitalnoise.com/4-questions-boss-going-ask-digital-marketing/ https://newdigitalnoise.com/4-questions-boss-going-ask-digital-marketing/#respond Wed, 20 Jul 2016 01:37:19 +0000 https://newdigitalnoise.ndnsocial.com.hk/?p=1401 The post 4 Questions Your Boss is Going to Ask You About Digital Marketing appeared first on New Digital Noise.

Anyone in business knows the higher up you get in a company, the less it is about the little details and more about the digital strategy. But when it comes to digital marketing, many companies want to hear what the return on investment, how it is helping the business, and why they should continue to pay for it. Your boss cares less about the little details and just wants the big picture. Many times your boss will have plenty of prepared questions they want you to cover in your meeting. These questions include:

1. How much is this costing me?

Instead of answering this question point blank, give them the stats first including:

 • What is our cost per lead?
 • How many leads are we generating?

When it comes to these statistics, you are going to want to give them the number of leads your digital marketing efforts are generating and how much you are spending overall. This lets them compare it to their traditional marketing and sales acquisition cost to see if it is better or worse. We suggest you also know these numbers to be able to compare them, in order to come up with a digital marketing budget.

2. What is working?

When it comes to your digital marketing efforts this can be a loaded question. It is best to keep it to terms your boss will understand. Using a bunch of acronyms like PPC, SEOSEM, and SMM can only lead to additional questions. You also want to make sure you are only describing the pieces that are working. You don’t have to include all the modern techniques that have either failed or you are considering trying. If you think it will succeed, your boss will too.

3. Why should I care about digital marketing?

Depending on the type of boss you have, some will care about your digital marketing efforts and others will not. More and more companies are starting to realize the power of digital marketing. But if you have a boss that asks this question, it is best to be prepared with a short simple answer, that is in terms they will understand.

A few example answers could be:

 • Digital marketing is a great way to interact and engage with your customers on a new level.
 • More and more customers are looking online for information about products and services and we want to make sure that our information is available to them.
 • Customers are more likely to purchase from a company that has a current digital presence including social media sites and a blog.

4. How are you making a difference when it comes to our digital marketing strategy?

This may seem like a curveball question and that is exactly what your boss is hoping for, to catch you off your game. Many presenters choose to not touch this question because the answer seems obvious to them. But by not having an answer prepared, your boss may feel he can replace you with someone else who can do it for much less, for example, an intern. This is your opportunity to tell him how you are contributing to the bottom line and how your unique knowledge of digital marketing applies directly to your industry. Your boss will appreciate how you tied back your knowledge specifically to your company’s statistics and industry.

As a digital marketing agency, we have prepared many of our clients for this discussion with their boss. We understand that the higher you go in a company; the more focus is put on the bottom line. That is why we make sure our clients have solid, measurable goals that are set for them to be able to take back to their boss and prove the value of digital marketing.

5 Reasons to Hire a Digital Advertising Agency https://newdigitalnoise.com/5-reasons-hire-agency-handle-digital-advertising/ https://newdigitalnoise.com/5-reasons-hire-agency-handle-digital-advertising/#respond Wed, 15 Jun 2016 00:53:29 +0000 https://newdigitalnoise.ndnsocial.com.hk/?p=876 The post 5 Reasons to Hire a Digital Advertising Agency appeared first on New Digital Noise.

]]>

In the world we live in, most consumers will look online before they ever come into your business. Customers want to see that the businesses they are buying from are active online. Whether that means an updated website, blog, social media presence, or through digital advertising. You want to make sure your business is keeping everything up to date. That is why many businesses turn to an agency to handle their digital advertising presence.

Consider these Reasons to hire a Digital Advertising Agency.

1. Changing Trends

Handling a digital advertising campaign can be stressful. Especially when you fail to see results. If you are using outdated information to run your campaign it can lead to limited to no results over time. Your ads may never even be seen or picked up by the algorithms. We have teams that are experts in banner advertising, search engine marketing, and media buying strategies. They are responsible for keeping up to date with all the latest changes to the digital advertising world. We have proven results that lead to our clients receiving quality leads that convert into customers.

2. Experience

When you hire an agency you gain a team of experienced workers that understand the best practices. They can customize your strategy to fit within your industry’s standards. Why not pay someone for their expertise so that you can focus on your daily business operations? Unlike an in-house marketing team that could take months to get up and running, by outsourcing your digital advertising you can have your campaigns up and running in just a few short weeks.

3. Save Resources

Whether you consider resources dollars or people, an agency can save you both. Because you are not spending money on benefits and salaries, you are essentially paying for the knowledge. Most companies who work with an agency see an increased ROI of approximately 24% over an in-house marketing team. And in a world that is highly data driven that is a big percentage.

4. Access to Marketing Resources

An agency can give you access to resources that otherwise would be very expensive to bring in-house. Some agencies have subscriptions that they get a deal on due to their number of clients or analytics tools that help provide their clients with accurate data. They also use things like programmatic advertising which can help optimize your digital advertising strategy. Because programmatic advertising helps take media buying to the next level, we use a combination of this innovative technique; as well as, the traditional approach.

5. In it for the Long Haul

As you continue to work with an agency, they gain a better understanding of how your business operates. They are able to learn more about the different types of customers you have. If your customers are searching for your industry on Google, an agency might recommend search engine marketing. If your customers are on social media, they may recommend social media ads as part of your digital marketing campaign. If your business is designed for major purchases, customers may not buy from you on the first search. When they come to your website for the second time, you may want to serve them a retargeting ad to give them the extra nudge they need. An agency can help with al of that.

Summary

A digital marketing agency can give you access to many different resources and tools. Before we work with a client, we make sure that we are the right fit for their business and they are the right fit for ours. 3 Must-know Facebook Advertising Tips https://newdigitalnoise.com/3-must-know-facebook-advertising-tips/ https://newdigitalnoise.com/3-must-know-facebook-advertising-tips/#respond Fri, 10 Jun 2016 08:18:19 +0000 https://newdigitalnoise.ndnsocial.com.hk/?p=864 The post 3 Must-know Facebook Advertising Tips appeared first on New Digital Noise.

Over the last few years, Facebook has made changes to their algorithms making it more difficult for businesses to reach their audience without advertising. (Of course there’s exceptional cases) Luckily Facebook marketing is a powerful form of online advertising and you can see great results from it. If you’re just getting started, follow our 3 simple tips to get more from your Facebook advertising!

1.Use Custom Audience and Retargeting

With digital advertising, it’s easy to reach a wide audience but you may not see a high return if you are targeting the wrong people. Facebook advertising allows you to create custom audience so that you can target those most likely to become customers.

Facebook also allows for retargeting so you can target individuals who have already shown interest in you and your company. You can create an audience from your email list, from your Facebook fans or individuals who have visited your website. Facebook will even allow you to create lookalike audiences. This allows you to find users who are similar to those who already like your page or subscribe to your emails, which allows you to target individuals who are more likely to become your customer.

2.Compose the ads: compelling image + benefits + call to action

With any banner advertising, the image is going to be extremely important. Facebook is a very image focused platform so you’ll want an image that stands out. Close up images of people smiling and ads with bright colors do very well on Facebook. Avoid blue and white graphics because they could blend in with Facebook’s color scheme.

Great ad copy is also key with digital advertising. You are limited to the amount of words you are able to use so you must be succinct in your message and still grab attention. We recommend being direct with your copy and explaining exactly what someone can gain from your product. Most importantly, have a great call to action. A call to action is one line of text that instructs the reader to do something in response to your ad. Using words that express urgency or excitement like “Get your copy now!” or “Don’t miss out on the sale” to get your users to act.

3.Choose proper bidding and budgeting

Facebook is a great choice for online advertising because it has relatively simple buying process. You don’t need advanced marketing knowledge to start using Facebook ads. Facebook is a type of programmatic advertising, which means you can put in your either a daily budget or an overall budget and allow Facebook to manage your ad for you and determine when it will be shown. This way you do not need to be managing your ads 24 hours a day.

You have a few options for choosing how you want to be charged for your Facebook advertising. Similar to traditional banner advertising, you can choose Cost Per Click, where you will be charged for each click your ad receives, or Cost Per Impression, where you will be charged for each impression (or view) your ad receives. What you choose will depend your unique goal and it’s best to identify that goal, whether it’s more Facebook likes, website traffic or actual sales. Facebook has all of these options built into it’s ad platform to make it easier for you to choose your bidding method.

When you first start out, we recommend using a low budget so you can see what works and what doesn’t work for your ads and increase your budget as you start seeing more success. Of course, it takes time and resource to optimize ROI through trial and error. No matter what your goals are, our experienced professionals are always ready to help.

Do you use Facebook advertising? What have you learned from it? We look forward to reading your comments below!

]]>

Over the past two decades, the marketing industry has transitioned from an emphasis on print advertising to digital. Online marketing is no longer just a fad; it is necessary component to every marketing strategy. One of the fastest growing facets of online marketing is social media marketing. Social media provides a huge opportunity for businesses of all sizes to market themselves and reach their audience.

If you are still struggling with your social media efforts, it’s time to clean up your strategy and start reaping the benefits of social media. Here are our five tips for a successful social media strategy.

1. Have Clear Goals

The number one reason most companies do not achieve digital success is because they do not have clear and measurable goals. You need to identify exactly what you hope to achieve with your online marketing efforts. For example, are you looking to increase visits to your website? Or are you looking to increase traffic in your brick and mortar store? Or perhaps you are looking to strengthen your brand’s presence and identity. Each of these goals are remarkably different form one another and require different tactics. By setting clear goals, you will know whether or not your social media marketing efforts are working.

2. Know Your Audience

Once you have established clear goals for your social media marketing strategy, you need to know your who is in ideal audience. Who are the people who normally purchase your products and what do you know about them? Knowing where your audience is located, their age range, their gender, their interests and how they spend their time will help you build the perfect strategy to reach them online.

3. Find The Right Platform

The third ingredient to creating a successful social media strategy is finding the right social media platform for your business. There are many options to choose from: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat and the list goes on. Each of these platforms has its own unique strength and target market. For example, millennials and younger audiences are more likely to be on Instagram or Snapchat. Pinterest is a popular platform for women and Twitter can be great for businesses who want deeper one on one engagement with their audiences. It is not necessary to be present on every social media platform. You just need to find the right one for your business and your audience. When you understand your goals, your ideal audience and each platform’s strengths, you will be able to determine the best social media platform for your business.

4. Be Consistent

Consistency in content and posting is one of the most important parts of a social media strategy. You want to ensure that you are regularly posting on your chosen platform, whether that is Facebook, YouTube or any other site, so your ideal audience can regularly connect with you. This might mean creating a content calendar or hiring a digital marketing agency to help you create and post your content. There are many tools to help you schedule content in advance or you could find a digital partner to help you keep your content consistent.

5. Measure your performance + Experiment

Social media offers powerful tools for you to measure your efforts. A key part of your successful social media strategy is measuring and analyzing how well your social media marketing is working for you. When you are aware of your goals and are able to measure your efforts, you can then experiment. The best way to manage your online marketing is to be aware that the landscape is always changing and leave space for experimenting with the different tools, platforms and content. If you are unsure of how to measure your social media marketing, a digital marketing agency will be able to assist you with analyzing your metrics.

There are 2.3 billion social media users today and without a doubt, many of those are your customers or could become your customers! Do not miss out on major opportunities for digital success and create your successful social media strategy today.

Social media is too important for your business to avoid, but it’s still not “media” in the traditional sense.

As Jay Baer of convinceandconvert puts it, “There’s social in social media” and that’s the central theme of strategic use of the social web for business.

First, a few rules:

1. Spamming is not only allowed on social but it also ruins your reputation.

2. Get social on your networks – manage small talk, make small conversations, and always respond to others.

3. Strive to build your network. Really get to know people, on a first name basis.

4. Share content that you publish (on your blog) and others’ content that relates to your business niche.

5. As for generating leads, develop a systematic workflow that helps you make sense of the chaos that social is. For instance, on rare occasions that you promote your product or service, send social traffic to a landing page.

As a business, here’s what social media can help you grow your business and drive sales (and it’s just now how you think it’d work):

Gain Branding & Impressions

On social networks such as Twitter, magic happens when you start using hashtags within your regular updates. Much like an open room full of people, your Tweet updates with hashtags are like public announcements.

Everyone gets to see what you update, and this is what gets your twitter handle (which is also your business name on Twitter) a lot of impressions.

How does that look like, you ask? Here’s a sample:

In the example above, you’ll notice that it’s a relatively new twitter account but you can see how impressions, number of tweets, profile visits, mentions, and followers grow over time just by keeping your social account active.

Build Relationships

It’s easy to start putting up a string of updates on social media networks, but that won’t fetch you much. Instead, focus on both updates and also building real relationships. As a business, you’ll have a lot of people already mentioning and talking about your brand.

If not, people would talk about the particular problem you solve with products and services. Get talking, provide help, share insights, and work to get to know them on a first name basis.

40:30:20:10 Principle

Of course, you are on social because you want to generate leads for your business. By boosting your branding and impressions, more people get to know about you thereby increasing your chances for generating leads. Then, the actual relationships you build will also help build your pipeline.

To get even better results, use the 40:30:20:10 principle, and this is how it works:

Out of your daily set of social media updates:

 • 40% of the updates should be content that you believe is interesting for your fans and followers.
 • 30% of the updates should your own content ( blog posts, infographics, other media)
 • 20% of the updates can include engagement, small conversations, and more.
 • Only 10% of your total updates should be directly related to generating leads, ads, and more.

Social media demands a lot from you and can only deliver if you keep at it for long, without expecting much from it – that’s the nature of the beast.

Before today’s digital age, marketing and technology were two separate entities. One dealt with computers and network issues, while the other sought to promote the company/brand to the public. But thanks to today’s increased interested in all things related to technology, marketing and IT are now transforming into one entity, creating a new role – the marketing technologist.

Progressive companies are now utilising the knowledge of a marketing technologist to expand their business in a world fuelled by technology. A marketing technologist is a mix of a variety of things, including a strategist, creative director and technology leader – all combined to align marketing technology with the goals of the business.

Since software reigns supreme as a way to engage customers and prospects, a marketing team now has to choose what type of software they’ll need to maximize results. And with so many different types of software available now, it can be overwhelming as to which one will work best. Then there’s the challenge of configuring and operating it, where an IT person is called in to aid with. This is only part of today’s marketing climate, with social media and digital platforms another aspect of marketing now. Digital budgets are now getting more dollars than ever before and companies are now looking for the best ways to utilize social media to their advantage.

All this technology involved in marketing now can be daunting, which is how the need for a marketing technologist emerged. According to HBR’s articles on “The Rise of the Chief Marketing Technologist,” a company can’t merely split these duties down the middle and assign marketing tasks to the marketing team and IT jobs to their IT department. Instead, the two must be bridged together with it’s own department – one that understand both sides of the spectrum and can easily merge the two for the company’s advantage in their industry. The team must consist of members who are comfortable with both marketing and IT, so to maximize success. It’s becoming impossible to run a marketing department without proper IT knowledge, which is why hiring a marketing technologist is important for a company who wants to thrive in today’s digital business world.
